The Real GL2 Serial Number?
I am trying to register my GL2 with Canon online. The serial number on the GL2 box and the one that B&H provided with my invoice is extremely long. However, Canon's online form field will only fit 12 characters. The mail-in form only has room for 10. The GL2 box seems to have a long serial number and a shortened one underneath in bold. However, they don't exactly match.
Does anyone recall how to submit the correct serial number? EG, is it the first 10 characters, or the last 10 (or 12)? Is it located physically on the camera anywhere? Thank you. bill shore |

Bill,
I believe that the camera's actual serial number is located underneath the battery. (Sorry, but I can't lay my hands on my GL2 at the moment.)

Thanks guys. The number underneath the battery seems like it should be the logical one. However, it is different than the one on the box and on my invoice. I am just trying to register the GL2 and get the rebate. The rebate coupon from Canon shows an example of the serial number on the box, not on the camera. Ugh!
I am having enough challenges (and fun) learning how to get great looking shots with my camera. Might be time to contact Canon... Thanks again. - bill shore |
