Need Help Regarding GL2 Compatibility

I would like to buy GL2 to provide better quality video and augment my Sony TRV 9. However, it seems I will have problems using it with Premiere 6.0 and my Pinnacle Systems DV 300 capture card for editing. Pinnacle says Canon DV camcorders are often problematic in being compatible with Pinnacle capture card. I am basically experienced beginner and happy to have stable Premiere 6.0 system with Sony TRV9 functioning great as Firewire link to computer. Other posts have said DV tapes recorded on Canon do not playback well on Sony camcorders. That seems to leave out one solution of recording with GL2 and using Sony TRV 9 as input/output link to computer and DV tapes. Does anyone have experience or suggestions please. Or can anyone explain what is different between Canon and Sony regarding connection to capture cards-- different CODECS or what?? Thankyou for help.

I may be ignorant on this, but I use a GL2 and ZR45MC and use Pinnacle Studio fine to capture from both via the firewire 1394 port on my ATI 8500DV. I have also used Studio to output my finished project back to the ZR45MC. While I like Pinnacle they seem to have issues with just about everything from Video cards to cams. They don't work well with ATI cards, but after a great deal of trial and error I found the right combo of drivers.

It's a combination of factors. FireWire compilance on the part of Canon and driver issues from Pinnacle. The ability of Canons to playback Sony recorded tapes and vice versa I believe to be more based on physical factors such as drum size, tape tension and tape path alignment.
