Candid recordings with the XM2?

Hi guys,

We have a family dinner coming up soon and I wanted to know how I can make a large piece of equipment like the XM2 invisible but still present to record memorable scenes at the diner table. Has anybody tried this before? How can you disguise the presence of a camera? What are my possiblitities?

Cheers,
Dirk

Dirk,
Hiding the camera in a usable position is probably not a real option. The best suggestion I can offer, and one that worked pretty well for me, is to position the camera well in advance of the dinner and let everyone become comfortable with it. By the time everyone is seated they will not be paying much attention to it. You might then be able to run the camera with the IR remote. I did this several years ago and it worked pretty well.

Whether or not you get usable footage is another matter.
