My XM2 arrived today coming from Germany!

Hi,

First of all I want to thank you all for the answers concerning my car mounting question.

Today my XM2 arrived all the way from Germany. For us Europeans it's quite a distance :-)

The xm2 will anly become available here in Belgium at the end of September so I ordered it in Germany.

I paid $2085 for it (inluding transportation) which is app. 2326 Euros.

It arrived in perfect shape and my first test footage looks great.

I'm studying the manual right now.

Thanks for reading,

Dirk

Randy... just being curious here since we are living in the same
country. What are you going to do with the XM2? Is it professional
or are you going down the indepedent movie making road as
well?

Good luck on finding a good price, the cheapest I saw them
here was 2799 euro.

Hi Rob,

I'm just an amature with video and NLE as a (increasingly) serious hobby. Did around 30 complete travel and home projects (10-15 minutes each).

However, I'm willing to do some commercial projects too.

At this moment looking at a replacement for my trv900. Did try the 950 but this is definetely not a serious camera for indoor use(receptions, stage play etc.).

Is video productions your occupation? Can you tell me more about this "independent movie making"?

Hi Dirk,
The XM2 you bought, is it a PAL?
I am looking for a PAL version. I don't find it in
any US web sites. Does anybody have idea where
I can shop for a XM2 PAL version. Thanks,
- Srini

The XM2 is PAL. The GL2 is NTSC. I don't know if Canon USA is offically importing the XM2 into the US. There may be a few Grey Market XM2's in the US. I wouldn't expect to see large numbers available until closer to the Holidays.

Randy,

Unfortunetely my "work" has nothing to do with video and/or
film (sigh). I'm designing and building corporate Intranets at
the moment (but I have quit my job per half december). I'm
currently in the process to get some indepedent shorts and
movies off the ground here, but there are some troubles with
my partner in crime so it is being postponed a bit.

Are you interested in making indepedent movies too?

Cheers,

Rob

Rob,

Well then we're more/less in the same business. At this moment I'm building a complete new website for a famous dutch bank.

And yes, I'm interested in making independent movies.
What kind of movies/projects are you trying to get off the ground?
