Is buying a used GL2 for $1700 stupid.

After rebate they are $1850! From:

My philosphy is simple. I think one should save around 20% by buying used gear like camcorders. They are very delicate and expensive to repair and a new warranty is worth the additional 20% in cost alone to me.

However used cameras on ebay typically go for $1700 and up!

With my rule of thumb I should pay no more than $1500 for a used camera since I can get it new for $1850.

I have looked high and low and can't find anyone that would sell one used for $1500.

Am I cheap or is the used market simply asking too much for this camera given the current rebate offers?

Peace, Rolland Elliott

I use BHPhoto as a benchmark. They're getting $2400 - 250 for the GL2.

B&H is over priced

I've been buying photo and video gear for over 10 years. I know B&H is an honest benchmark for 99% of the items out there, but they are way over priced for the GL2.

Looks like the above place is a scam, but there are other vendors that are honest like buydigitaldirect, where they sell for $1950.

Basically I don't want to argue over resellers credibility.

I just want to know is there anywhere I can buy this camera used for a good price? It seems like all the offers out there are overinflated. If the camera can be had for say $2000 new, I'd expect to pay $1600 for a used one.

Peace, Rolland

You absolutley right, but on e-bay which is auction anybody is free to jack up the price (sometimes on purpose of making you bid over your head). Or desperate buyer need camera now and willing to outbid more restrained buyer.
