If possible try playing the tape back in another camera brand or
DV deck. They might be able to recover more.

For what it's worth, I had a crappy capture on a TDK tape, after using Maxell's religiously with no consistant problem. When I had the problem with the TDK tape, I called JVC, the maker of my B-Roll cam. JVC told me that that TDK recently had a bad batch of tapes, and that JVC had received a bulletin about it. So I'm wondering if it's makes sense to call the cam manufacture, maybe they have the inside scoop.
