A friend of mine is going to layoff some tapes for me that she shot of some interviews I did. Being new to the GL2 and not seeing anything in the manual, thought I'd ask here. Does the GL2 play/record DVCAM tapes or should I have her layoff to miniDV?

You won't be able to play back a tape recorded in DVCAM format on the XM2/GL2.
However, if you can get hold of a DVCAM, you can connect the two with a firewire lead and make a straight transfer.
