The PAL version is black? I know the Japanese NTSC version is black...here in North America it is silver/grey. My Ducati 900SS was black. So was my Laverda 1000. Oh yeah, and my wife's Nikon is black.

I really do like black electronics better. I don't really want to attract attention.

That said, I have an XL1S so I will always have that problem.

Canon USA tells me the black-body version will "never" be available here in the States. So you'll have to buy it in Japan, and switch the menu from Japanese to English.

Here in sunny Florida, black is not a really good idea for many things, cameras, optics, tape and tripods. I've seen several people grab a black tripod and almost drop it from the burning heat. Black has its place, but not in sunny, hot climates.
