You normally do a Print-to-tape (PTT) from your Non-Linear Editor
(NLE) software like Premiere, Vegas, AVID, FCP etc. Which edit software are you using?

I am using Premiere 6.5. I know how to do a print to tape cause I would do it with my old Hi8 but my question is..do I just set the camera to VCR mode and press record?

I do not have Premiere (I have Pinnacle Liquid Edition) but the format should be similar.
1. Put a DV tape into Cam 2. Place Cam in Play/VCR Mode Check "your Cam manual but suspect it will be the same. 3. When you "Output to Tape" from within NLE the editor will cue your Cam and Timeline together and when you select "Print to Tape (Record to Tape in LE) the NLE will control the Cam for the whole procedure. You DO NOT press record on your Cam (not in Edition anyway), perhaps a "Premierite" will confirm your procedure.
