Dubbing problem with GL-2
Hi, I taped some footage with my GL-2, then put it in my canon zr 900 and transferred it to my GL-2, so I had two tapes. The tape that I transferred will not play in the zr 900. The error messages said incorrect tape specification. Canon tech support told me some camcorders are not always compatiable with other camcorders. I know they are wrong because a mini dv tape will play in any mini dv camcorder. She also said that if I record in movie mode that the fps will be different so that will happen. I recorded it in normal mode.
Does anyone know what could cause that problem? Thanks, Tony |

Did you check to make sure the tape plays ok in the GL2? Myb the connection wasn't right & the tape is blank or some kind of static.

Yes, the tape plays fine in the GL-2. I can try it again, but I'm curious as to why it happened.

SP or LP speed?
How long ago was tape you copied shot? Was the suspect tape used previously in another machine? Subtle changes in tape path alignment can cause playback issues when a tape is taken to another machine. Have you tried making a copy in the other direction, from the GL2 to the ZR900?
