Help with hardware...
I never have problems figuring out hardware issues so this is a first.
1. previously I had installed a Pinnacle System Firewire card and used Pinnacle Systems Studio 7. I used my Canon ZR25MC camera. I never had any problems capturing, editing, etc. 2. I recently purchased a Canon GL2 (very happy about that by the way) 3. I attempted to attach the camera via Firewire and poof!, no recognition of the GL2. I attempted to attach the old camera and poof!, no recognition. 4. I uninstalled software, card etc. and reinstalled fresh. Unable to capture. All of a sudden my system (W98SE) wants to install the camera under imaging devices (never happened before). Here is what the Device Manager looks like when the camera is on: www.archaeologystore.com/images/sysprop.gif 5. O.K., I say forget Studio7 I install a copy of Adobe Premiere 6.5 with the card. No capture. I read on Adobe's website about the Texas Instruments non-compatibility blah, blah, blah. None of their fixes work. 6. Bought a new Belkin Firewire card. Still the same problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mark, I suspect you're going to have to upgrade your OS. Many of my students encounter problems with W98SE. It is really too old to work reliably with many of the new programs and hardware.

yep....
sure enough. I loaded XP PRO on my system (dual boot) and the camera is recognized instantly. Not only the GL2 but also my Canon ZR25MC (which is for sale b.o.), my Canon Digital Rebel and also my Olympus C5050Z still cams.
Time to upgrade Steve :-( Thanks Jeff. Mark

Well I have xp home. BUT.... I removed the pci card that I installed and moved it to another slot. And now it recognized my camera. So what ever the problem was it is fixed now.
