zoom sticks

I was doing some shooting tonight with my GL-2 (5 mos old), and when I zoom for just a second and let go, the zoom keeps on zooming. Same in reverse. The only way I can stop it is to tap it back and forth until it stops. Is there an easy fix, or is this something that has to be sent back to canon?

This sounds like a job for Canon service.

Which zoom rocker is showing this behavior?

Its the one on the side. It started doing it the last wedding I shot a little. Last night it was doing it a lot. Then, after I turned the cam off and back on again, it seemed ok...for awhile. I have a backup cam GL-1 I can use with my 2 XL1s for the shoot this weekend, so I will have to send it in.

Thanx
Trig

Zoom Problem Repair

Hello and Peace to All,
as you now know, you are not the only one who has experienced the "zoom problem". I was having the same problem with my GL2 after a few months so I just sent it to Canon Repair in CA with my warranty card, receipt and description and it was retuned after about 10 days fully repaired at no charge as expected. my service experience was great so please don't hesitate to send it on in ASAP!
take care
Aaron
PS...you can see a music video i did for a Cat Stevens song "Where Do the Children Play" using my GL2 on the homepage i am building,
