GL2 wear and tear question

I'm using AVID XPress DV 3.5.4 on my PC and I have created a pseudo-MediaComposer setup by using a firewire connection with my GL2 to output video onto an external monitor.

Should I be worried about leaving the GL2 in Play (VCR) Mode for extended periods of time?

I am using the power adapter for the camera and there is no tape in the camera, so it is functioning solely as a Digital to Analog Convertor.

Just like with any cam or VCR, the heads will wear over time.

Frank,

John mentioned that there is no tape in the cam so the heads will not be in use at all. In fact it's no problem leaving the cam in VCR mode and using it as an A/D converter for extended periods.

It's a good thing my 3 year warranty will cover the heads on my GL2.

Chris, sorry, I missed that about no tape. With no tape in the cam, I wouldn't worry about wear.
