My head is spinning
I can’t figured it out. I finally bought a used GL2 and I have decided to buy NRG Varalux Pro light to go with it. My problem is deciding on which battery belt to go with. I’m a novice when it comes to batteries. I basically have no clue. I searched the forum and checked B&H site. The more I looked the more I get confused. I need someone to please help me. I worked out and weight won’t be an issue. I need something that would last up to 3 hours using 35 to 50 watt.

A nominal 50 watt, 12 volt lamp, implies a bit over 4 amps current. For 3 hour run time that is over 12 amp-hours (12,000 mahr). To allow for battery aging, etc. you will one one that is a good bit larger, at least 15,000 mahr, perhaps larger depending on the technology of the battery.

I'm using 4 battery configurations for similar lights. The 2 smaller ones last most of a 10 hour day when I use my 20 watt NRG. When I have to go to the Varalux Pro, I use a 24 amp/hour Bescor belt. It may be overkill, but I've NEVER had it die on me. BTW, John, I'm local to you. If you'd like to see my setup, it might help you decide what's best for you. E-mail me thru the DVinfo net system.
