Help! Tape won't load all the time
Just started acting up.
When I insert a tape and close the carrier it won't always load. If I tap on it, it sometimes goes.... In fact the carrier will not always pull in even without a tape.... Something known? Something fixable? Service center only? Bob T.

Sounds like possible dirt on a contact that senses the tape carrier position.

Is it safe to use one of those compressed air cans on these things?

Time for the repairman.
The load transport has likely become baulky due to dried lube or gritty debris and either stalls the motor before it goes fully home and bends enough that the stop switch triggers or simply locks the motor which remains powered. Neither is a good state and may do more expensive damage if you perservere with it. Last edited by Bob Hart; May 18th, 2008 at 11:01 PM. Reason: error |
