Xm2 Sd Card Capacity
Hi all,
when the XM2 is connected to the PC it is "seen" as a disk drive by the system. Taking a look at the properties of this "drive" I noted that the capacity shown is much less than the card's. For example the 8 megs supplied with the cam is reported as a 6,39 MB and a 64 megs as a 59,3 MB. Has somebody noted the same thing? What do you think about? Ciao M. Lauria |

It's because of windows...
Just like how when you get a 60GB HDD, it's really only like 56GB.. |

I agree with you for Windows problems....
If your 60 GB drive is reported as 56 GB there's a 6.6 % loss over capacity. In the case of the 64 MB card the loss is almost the same (7.3%) In the case of the 8 MB card the loss is more than 20%. Somebody told me that Multimedia cards have a different behaviour. For example a 8MB Multimedia is reported as 7.55 Mb. Anyway all this, is not a problem. This place is wonderful to talk everything about camcorders. My 64 MB SD card makes almost 100 pictures at full resolution, that's enough. Ciao |
