Heliopan 77mm vari LENS CAP??

Bought the Heliopan variable ND, love it. Any other owners find a good lens cap that works and stays on?

B&H has threaded metal lens caps in almost every thread size.

Bill,

The problem is that the Heliopan variable ND filters do not have threads.
Therefore, I am unaware of any lens cap that will work. However, other
than that annoyance, it is the best variable ND filter I have ever used,
bar none.

Each my Lightcraft Workshop Fader NDs came with a plastic lens cap not dissimilar to those that come with a lens i.e. press springy levers on either side of the cap. I am sure that a similar generic lens cap would fit the Heliopan e.g. an 82mm cap for the 77mm filter.

Don't the spring type covers rely on the threads being on the inside of the filter? If yours work a different way, how can we get some? I have the same issue with my Singh Ray. Theres no internal threads. I think we all need a simple cover kind of like a plastic cup lid that would fit the outside of the filter. My Canon WA lens for my XF has the right type but wrong size.

Edit: here it is! Guess enough people need one. Too bad its 3x the price of most other caps this type but it seems this is the only one designed for this job!

I have an extra lenscap for the Heliopan 77mm. I called them and they said the Kaiser 80mm work. I tried it and sure enough, fits like a glove, even with the brass stopper.

1 extra for Kaiser 80mm lens cap for sale. $18.

Since this Heliopan doesn't have front threads, what are people using for a hood?

I'm using the Kaiser 80mm also and it works well. As far as hoods, I just put my hood on and then thread the filter and it fits pretty well (on Canon 24-105 and Sigma 50mm). It's not as easy to adjust with the hood on, but still doable.
