Canon Firmware adding headphone jack?

Does anybody know if Canon is planning on adding a firmware update that would turn the A/V Jack into a headphone jack like Magic Lantern does?

Now that they've added audio meters and a Manual AGC option it only seems logical that they would add this A/V to Headphone jack update so you don't have to mess with Magic Lantern.

Anybody know anything about this? Also has anybody had any problems with the new Magic Lantern Firmware update with their 2.08 version 5D?

Thanks;)

No one outside of Canon is likely to know anything about planned firmware changes. What seems logical to some one outside of Canon may have no commercial benefit at all to them. It's always nice to get something for free, but don't bank on it. Just because Magic Lantern can do it does not mean that Canon will reassign engineers from other projects to add it to their own firmware.

I haven't heard such an announcement. I'd assume that it will never happen.

Also, note that ML handles the in-camera gain better than Canon's firmware. If you want to record good audio into the Canon, expect to use a good preamp like a juicedLink as well as Magic Lantern Firmware and a headphone amp, like a Boostaroo.

Thanks much Jon!

Have you tried the Magic Lantern on the 5D 2.08 version that Trammel released a few weeks ago? Any problems if so?

Thanks

AHA! Someone else using this item.

I picked up a Boostaroo from Radio Shack to give me usable line out to decent headphones from the ZoomH2 and ZoomH1. This is a very handy little amp that simply gives a two times boost to the output of those items that seem designed to drive nothing but earbuds.
