New 5D Firmware, the order of things?

I tried searching this but couldnt exactly find the answer.

I plan on purchasing th 5D in the next couple of weeks, when I recieve it do I need to immediately install the latest Canon firmware before installing the Black Lantern firmware? Or can I just install the Black Lantern firmware right away without needing the latest canon one?

Just not sure what order I need to do these in.

Thanks

Danny:

First, it is Magic Lantern, unless I have missed something new in the last few weeks.

Second, the current Magic Lantern only works with firmware 2.04. I believe current version of 5D firmware is 2.08. So first thing to determine when you get the camera is what firmware it is running.

I have successfully loaded 2.08, then returned to 2.04.

In the 7D, a report by one of the developers was that after updating several times with an Alpha version of a 7D magic lantern, he was barred from loading further firmware. We did not encounter that in the 5D, but one wonders if something like that might have been put on board in 5D post 2.04. As I said, I upgraded to 2.08 and then went back to 2.04, but I haven't shot with Magic Lantern much since then, so I do not have any evidence of anything like that occurring.

Hey Chris, thanks for the quick response.
I have no idea why I wrote "Black" Lantern, Haha, of course it's Magic Lantern;)

So if my camera does come with 2.08 do I just have to go to the Canon website and download the 2.04? Will that overwrite the 2.08? If not, what's the best way to get 2.04 loaded in over the 2.08?

Thanks a million!

I had heard you couldn't back grade it, but after up grading to 2.08, but I just tried it the other night, and the camera works fine. Canon won't have it on website, so if you want 2.04, let me know by PM, and I will send it to you.
