2.0.7 to 2.0.4

Has anyone here reverted from 2.0.7 to 2.0.4? I have a couple of new 5DIIs which came with the latest FW but I'd like to use Magic Lantern as well and, as we know, this is currently working with the previous Canon FW (2.0.4) and not the latest.

Is there a special procedure for 'going backwards' or any specifics to note?

Thanks all,

HD.

When you were asking for firmware, I had some question as to whether you would be able to go back. I recall some users had complained that Canon had locked them into 2.07... Because of that, I have not updated my firmware.

What you can do is transfer the firmware to the root directory of you CF card and then turn on camera, go to the firmware update menu on the camera, and select update, and see if it will indeed allow you to update from the older version.

Oh dear.

Right. Okay. I'll give this a go. I might talk to Canon UK first just to check if a revert is possible. I won't mention ML as they'll probably be all sensitive about that. I don't want to end up with two very expensive bricks!

Will report back after I'm done.

An attempt to go back to the previous version won't brick anything, but the Canon 5D may just refuse to go back to a previous firmware and give you a message that it will not do so.

I can't find it anywhere on the net anymore.

Anyone have it and/or can send me a link?

Thanks very much!

Interesting thread - first I'd heard of Canon openly trying to retard the effort to upgrade the Mark II.

This honestly effects buying new vs used, so I am def interested in any more info...
