another monitoring question
I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm a newbie and I did search the old posts first.
I'm experimenting with my friends 5D before my T2i shows up tomorrow . When I playback through the HDMI to my 24" home TV I have 2 problems: 1- The video image doesn't fill the frame. Instead I'm getting the viewfinder image with all the menu info and the video is just in the center of a bigger picture. looks great but no way to look at resolution or grain. Is this the best you get? 2 - The image keeps cutting out to me and I need to press the playback button often to get it to show up, Until then I see "waiting for signal" on my screen. Somnetimes it cuts out during a shot, but more often between them. Could this be a bad cable? It doesn't seem to have a problem if I bend it & move it around. Thanks |

If recall correctly ( no camera in front of me) you can cycle to full frame by hitting the INFO button. It will show full screen or the viewfinder with data as an option.
Hope this helps and woks for you. |

Dennis is correct and toggling 'INFO' will add or remove the bottom menu line and additional information on the side of the image. In 'manual' video mode you'll see the histograph as well.
On my SmallHD DP1 'field monitor' I get a total of 4 different sized images out of the camera in 'live-view video mode'-in 5 different forms: 1: 'Playback'-Full size image during 'playback mode' This will fill my screen. 2: 'Preview'-Slightly reduced size image during 'previewing' and with 'INFO' off. ie before I go into record. 3: 'INFO 1'-Further reduced image when info is first pressed. This displays the 'bottom line info'. 4: 'INFO 2'-Same size as above with additional 'side info'. 5: 'Record'-Reduced 480p image-surrounded by bright green when camera is put into record. A delay of just over a second occurs when record is pressed. The aspect ration is squashed vertically in 480p. Since I am most keen to focus with the monitor, I have chosen to achieve a compromise between the 'Preview' and 'Record' sizes and therefore allow the 'Playback' image to be overscanned a bit. Is this the situation with all HD monitors or just the SmallHD? |
