For the camera by itself, with the standard plate, I have to mount camera as far foward on the plate as I can in order to be the tightening lever turned far enough. the camera itself interfere with any hope of tightening to the stop.

I do often use the Juiced Link CX231 to mount on bottom of camera to get a mic into the camera, and that makes allow tighter to spin all the way.

With rails, it works the same way as with the CX 231

Take a small Allen wrench and remove the screw that holds the tightening lever on the tripod head. Then just pull off the plastic lever (you will find that it's sitting on a brass hex head bolt) rotate it 90 degrees down and reinstall. You are done and it works like it should.
