New to Final Cut and 5D

Hello,

I will be editing a a short film shot with the 5d. I have made the switch to FCP 6, specifically for this project. From what I understand, I need to convert the footage to pro res 422, and I will be doing it with mpeg streamclip. Furthermore, I will eventually want to convert to 24p.

In Mpeg streamclip, you can convert to pro res and and change the frame rate to 24p at the same time. Why are people using two different applications to do so?

If staying with 30p. when converting to pro res do you change the rate to 29.97? What about in the FCP timeline?

When changing the framerate to 24p, do you use 24p or 23.97?
