Editing on a Modbook/white Macbook
Thinking out loud here and want some opinions.
I think it's about time for a new laptop and I'm considering the modbook, which is a modified white macbook. More info here for anyone who dunno about it: Axiotron : Modbook I know an equally priced MBP would be faster but I do both video and illustration. Currently I do way more video than illustration but I like to offset that balance. This will be my personal computer and I do have access to some faster iMacs at work. I also want it to be able to handle basic video editing, that means usually few layers in FCP, color correction and some title/text. I occasionally use soundtrack pro and motion as well. Most people would probably recommend a MBP for this stuff but here's the kicker: I been editing 5D2 video (converted to xdcam HD) on a 5 year old powerbook (1.5 GHz, 1GB ram). It works fine, albeit slow. The white macbook should be faster (2.13 GHz, 2 GB ram base). Is there anything I left out of the equation? Btw, I do have a wacom, but it's no cintiq. |
