Nice commercial, and an excellent story! Nothing like a deadline to focus the energy!

BTW, what Picture Style preset did you use? The Magic Bullet Looks seemed to like it.

I would have to check Jon not sure. I thrive on deadlines. My news background!

I also wonder why Dvinfo is again not emailing me replies!

my settings in camera where actually not ideal, a bit too crushed. I have since uploaded a more neutral, better latitude one which will give me more options in post.

Pretty amazing what 2 guys can do with a limited amount of equipment. The 5D is certainly much easier to use when you don't have to worry about syncing audio, but that may change with the magic lantern firmware hack as great progress is being made.

Now that you have used the 5D for some paying work, in an interview situation for 29.97 playback, would you consider using the 5D and a GH1k together? If it can be done, do you think the final product would have to go to 720 as opposed to 1080?

Anyway, nice job with the 5D for the time you were given to shoot it. I think it's a pretty amazing camera and we are going to see some great stuff from it. Congrats.

cheers Jim

i am off to Delhi in ten days Jim, shooting a greenpeace commercial with the 5d and the GH1 for it's 50p for slow motion (my gh1 does not shoot 29.97 as it's UK cam)

I would upscale the 720 to 1080.

By the way here is a frame grab from a shoot from today, lit with one candle.

I assume the 1 candle shot is from the 5D....

I'll get some experience under my belt with my new GH1. I am impressed with my 5d footage and if I can get the GH1 to match up without too many gootcha's, I'll keep the GH1.

I feel the need some times to keep rolling and the 12 -13 minute limit on the 5D worries me that I might miss something. This doesn't happen very often, but it's nice to have the option to keep one camera going continuously. So,,,, if I can make the GH1 work with the 5D as a B cam, I'm going to be one happy camper.....

Look forward to seeing how you match the two.

How is the audio with the GH1 when you use a preamp or zoom with line out?

ps..... My GH1 just arrived 7 hours ago. The lens to camera connection has some play in it. Not good. Have you heard from any one else about a sloppy fit? I don't have my nikon adapter yet, so can't tell if it's the lens or body. I may try a camera shop to see if they will let me mount another Panny lens to see if it fits any better.

Hi Jim.
Sloppy fit indeed!
I checked 3 cameras at my local shop and all had the same issue.

Thanks.

Sloppy fit.

Shooting yesterday I got a message that was something about no lens. Twisted the lens, heard the little stop and it worked again. I had not taken off the lens. Just took it out of the bag.

Anyone else have the play in their lens?
