Economy Lens with 5D MII- Nikor Series E 100mm F2.8

I shot this test of my hand held set up with my Nikon Series E 100mm F2.8.

This lens had been pretty nice on my 35mm adapters, and I think it does a nice job with the 5D too. But have your own look:

I put it up on YouTube. Looks like Vimeo wants to discourage free use anymore.

Hey Chris, I can from experience using it on my ol' FM2n and N90s film cameras...that was one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used!! You can't beat the price either.

I think it was (and still is) one of the best values for a 35mm SLR lens.

Good job on the video; enjoy the lens and the cam!!

By the way, have you tried posting on ExposureRoom - Providing Exposure & Opportunity for Talent or SmugMug Photo Sharing. Your photos look better here.

I picked mine up on Ebay for about $65.00 used. That was about the same as I had paid for my original used one that I dunked in a pool of water on a shoot. I see one there now for "Buy it Now" at $ 75.00 Search Series E 100mm

Chris:

Looks danged good, I love the look you are getting with that cam (waiting on your handheld test with the home made shoulder brace to load so I can watch that without it stopping every 20 seconds or so.

Seeing the still of that brace at the beginning kind of answered one question I have. I couldn't go the price of the 5D MkII so I wound up with the Canon 500D (T1i Rebel). Don't know if we'll get a firmware upgrade on it or not but I have one 50mm f1.8 AI Nikkor and am waiting on the adapter. With the APS C size sensor that will get me close to the perspective you get with the 100mm.

I'm considering the Spiderbrace for shoulder mount stabilization and it looks like it will hold the camera at the same level as your home made one.

Oh, what do you mean about vimeo seeming to discourage "free" use? Have they put more limitations in place?

Bruce, better to download original anyway. Even though they say they are doing 30p now, they seem to drop frames. Vimeo: Took them about 6 hours to convert mine. Had a nice message posted.. if you were plus Member, you would be first. Never ever had to wait that long.
