New Firmware Countdown...

It's already past 6am on June 2nd in Tarawa, Kiribati. Where's our firmware? :)

Current local time in Tarawa - Kiribati

(Hopefully, the June 2nd date is real. I've seen it quoted many places, but it's not 100% clear that June 2nd is the official date.)

I hope the release isn't from Apia, Samoa. They have more than sixteen hours to go before midnight...
Current local time in Apia - Samoa

It's approaching midday June 2nd in this neck of the woods; clearly this firmware update business is a charade, pure shenanigans, mischief, a prank, tomfoolery, not going to happen guys...

Let's make do with auto-exposure.

Oh.. haha it's only 9am in Tokyo.. didn't realize that. .You guys crack me up - expecting some poor guy at Canon waiting in front of his computer for the midnight clock to strike to upload the new firmware.

Hmmm... Jon stop being so reasonable and utterly fair minded.

I was just trying to get a low quality joke in before the release arrives. It's just so sad the Japanese are unaware Wellington is the centre of the universe. Why couldn't they just this once do a 4am start to the day?

They should automate it - in servers around the globe. Godzilla could eat Tokyo, and we'd still get our firmware. (And then we'd fly to Japan with our cameras to film a Godzilla documentary...)

Heck, I wanted it at zero hour in Tarawa, Kiribati. That place is a virtual time machine!
