Stand alone backup solutions
Greetings all,
I do 95% wedding shooting and my next camera will be the 5D. In the very near future I am looking to purchase a stand alone backup solution. I am also purchasing enough cards so that I can shoot the whole day without reformatting, but I still feel paranoid and would like to backup on site just to be on the safe side. A laptop is ideal but financially it is not in the cards right now and I don't want to be lugging around a laptop and external drive with me at a wedding. I have been looking at portable hard drives/card readers, such as this: Sanho | 160GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE Portable Memory | SAHDCS160 I have used the search and unfortunately did not find any discussion about stand alone storage options. In my opinion, purchasing two units and backing up each card is the best way to go, but I have never used a tapeless camera and have no real world experience with the 5DMk2. Has anyone used one of these products as a backup for 5D video? Does anyone have recommendations for specific models? Is there a better way of backing up on site? Thanks in advance. |

I used my older 40GB Hyperdrive the other day with a couple cards containing video and still files (mixed) from my 5D Mark II and the Hyperdrive handled all the files (videos and stills) just fine.
