50mm Manual Lens Choices
I've got a small collection of manual iris lenses going for my 5D. I've got the Nikon AI 28mm, AIS 85mm and the AIS 135mm. I need something in the 50mm range. I've heard that the Nikon manual 50mm lenses cannot be used on the 5D MII because of sitting too far back. I cannot seem to confirm this anywhere and I don't know if it limited to just the 50 f/1.4 or if the f/1.2 or f/1.8 have the same problems.
I know their is the Zeiss, however, I'm not really wanting to spend that much. Any ideas? |

Nikkor 50 1.4
Just today, I installed the Nikkor 50 F1.4 on my 5DM without modifications.

Gary, that's great news. Was it the AI or the AIS? Do you mind sharing the serial number? I'm just looking to see what years the lens was from. Thanks!

My son's 50mm f/1.8 works fine on the Fotodiox pro adapter.

I checked my 1.2 nikkor on a 5D before making the switch. Fits fine. It is pretty soft wide open in stills but not sure in vid.

Thanks for the info guys. I picked up a 50mm f/1.8 AI (which Ken Rockwell gives high praise to) on the "Bay" for next to nothing. I'll post here again confirming it works well.
