Exploring alternative aperture control options
Lots of speculation going on about the limitations of the manual controls. I'm skeptical of everything until the camera is finally in stores, but it may be a good idea to explore another option.
The electronic nature of the EF lens may prove to be an advantage. If we could gain control we would have access to remote focus and aperture. Sure its not the perfect remote focus but we would at least be able to set the aperture to any setting we like. I ran across this lens controller for the Canon EOS Lens: http://www.birger.com/Merchant2/merc...een=ef232_home Its got serial & USB options so there are a lot of devices that would work. Unfortunately an adapter like this would not work for us, but if we could interface the electronics it would be perfect. I'm just not sure how, without increasing the distance between sensor and lens. |

As the self-proclaimed poster boy for lens control, I thank you for that link. Most interesting!
