Super 16mm Telecine Project
Nothing humbles my marginal math abilities more severely than any sort of lens calculations... so here I am, pleading for some optical help.
My objective is a direct coupling of my 70D to my Elmo 16-CL via macro and extensions and t-ring. I've researched this aspect of things and it not a re-invention of the wheel. The extension tube slides directly into the lens holder of the projector. The configurations available for purchase are suited for unrestricted proximity for the DSLR and the projector lens tube/mount. My problem is with the physical layout of the Elmo. The lens (which will accommodate the extension tube) is set back from the front edge of the projector case, thereby restricting the proximity of the 70D body. The result? A minimum of about 5 inches from the lens mount on the 70D, to the film gate of the Elmo. A Super 16mm frame is 13mm x 8mm. The 70D sensor is of course, the APS-C (22.3mm x 14.9mm if I remember correctly). Can someone help me work out what I need for glass to provide for an HD capture? |
