Remote control M
Is there a way to remote control the M for taking pictures and video recording start and stop? A wireless remote?

There sure is - wireless remote for both stills and starting and stopping video. There is a sensor on the camera for it. Canon RC-6. The manual (the detailed one) explains its use.

If you haven't already seen it then I highly recommend the DSLR Remote Control App. All it requires is your Android phone and a USB Cable (mine is USB micro to USB Mini)

The DSLR remote control app does NOT work with the EOS M.
