Lens Repair
I have a Canon EF-s 18-55 lens from the Kit. The plastic filter ring is broken. Can I replace it myself or is this a camera shop repair?
Thanks |

Re: Lens Repair
If you're handy, can find the right part, and can get your hands on a Canon service manual, it can probably be done. Depends on if your time is worth it though, those lenses are pretty cheap on eBay and such.
I recently did a repair on a Nikon 18-55mm and following the 190-page service manual step by step, got the lens back together with no problems. |

Re: Lens Repair
You might be better off just trawling eBay to see if you can pick up a cheap relacement. I've seen plenty of kit lenses sell for about $60 there, which might even work out to be cheaper than parts/repair.
