What Shutter Speed for 60fps slow-mo

I'm shooting some 60fps footage today with the T2i and then conforming it with JES Deinterlacer to 23.98fps for the slow-mo look. My ISO will be at 100 and I will be using a tripod.

My question is.... what shutter speed should I be at for the best results? I know normally if I was shooting 60fps footage the shutter would be at 125, but I read that people crank it up pretty high when shooting for slow motion (1000???), and I cannot find a clear answer on this online.

Thanks.

In my experience 1/60 at 30fps and 1/120 at 60fps.

Re: What Shutter Speed for 60fps slow-mo

I believe those using the very high shutter speeds are intending to slow things down in post -- if you are going to use software to generate in-between frames, better to start out with something very very sharp. But otherwise, you run the risk of creating an uncomfortable strobe effect -- the same 'problems' that make high shutters unattractive in regular motion will come to play in slow motion.

If you are slowing down in post, aim for a shutter speed that would be the equivalent of 180 degree shutter in your final slowed speed -- so a quarter speed sequence would call for a shutter speed of 1/250 et cetera.

Cheers,
GB
