Rebel T3i. 4:2:0
I am considering buying one of these Samurai recorders. It records SDI but the manufacturers claim that they will have an additional option soon of recording HDMI.
The SDI port on my Canon XLH1 outputs 4:2:2. Is the Canon Rebel T3i capable of outputting 4:2:2 or is it forever 4:2:1, or whatever it is? There's no point to my buying the add-on HDMI input module for the Samurai if it's going to be exactly the same as recording to a card. Is there any benefit to be had, apart from the fact that the Samurai transcodes to ProRes on ingest? Any thoughts welcome. Thanks, Harry. |

No current canon dSLR outputs a HDMI signal that is usable for recording.
