Best time to buy DSLR?

Hey Folks,

Just want to hear some opinions out there. Is now the best time to buy a DSLR (specifically Canon) or wait until after the Nov. 3rd announcement? Of course no one knows what's coming for sure, but surely it's a new camera of some sort. Whether if it's full frame, cropped, or mirrorless, doesn't matter. There's also Black Friday around the corner after that too. As for me, I'm waiting for prices to drop.

Re: Best time to buy DSLR?

I would until November 4th and then buy a heavily discounted 5D Mark II

Though my actual plan is to buy a Sony a77 on Oct 14th.

Re: Best time to buy DSLR?

Unless you have a project that needs to start shooting in October, I'd wait.

After the announcement, you might choose an existing DSLR (at a good price), or you might decide that you need the enhanced features (whatever they might be) of a new model. Just be aware that the demand of the 5D2 was VERY high for the first couple months. They were hard to find. I put my name on lists at local camera shops, went to the local electronics store a few times a week in person, and called around. I finally found one for sale at Frys. Fortunately, they were willing to reserve it for me for the hour it took to drive there.

It seems that the lower priced models were easier to get when they first started shipping. Even though there is more demand for the less expensive models, there is also more supply, so there are more chances to find one available for sale.

if you don't NEED it right now, go ahead and wait...I bought my 60D in February simply because I needed it by May....and I didnt want a t3i...
