Headphones on a t2i?
Is it possible to have headphones w/o getting something like a Beachtek adapter kit?

Re: Headphones on a t2i?
John,
It looks like if you load the Magic Lantern firmware you can use headphones with a special (or heavily adapted) mini-usb to headphone cable: Magic Lantern Headphone Monitoring - Canon T2i and 5D MkII - DSLR Accessories and Features (5D Mark II, 7D, T2i, 60D, etc.) on Vimeo |

Yes it can. I use it successfully. Just enable the audio output in the magic lantern menu, use the mini USB to rca cable that comes with the camera combined with a stereo RCA to female mini adapter.

Re: Headphones on a t2i?
Brian - thanks a ton man - just ran up to the Shack and got a couple of adapters. Presto! I can actually hear sound now!
One little tip, plug the mini USB after the camera is on, otherwise it appears to bypass the view screen and output the video down the yellow RCA wire. THANK YOU! (and God bless everyone at ML) |

No problem. I'm glad you got it to work. And yes, I forgot to mention you must connect USB after powering camera on.

Re: Headphones on a t2i?
You will need a RCA female to mini-jack female. That is, if you have mini jack-headphones.
I found one just like this one: Except you will need the mini-jack to be female. Also remember, that in the setup above, it will be MONO over STEREO, so you will probably only hear through one earpiece. If you record in MONO you will need and RCA to mini-jack female, then an mono mini-jack to stereo mini-jack. Then headphones. Last edited by Marius Tatarasanu; May 7th, 2012 at 10:39 AM. Re: Headphones on a t2i?
Another way round this is to buy a little AV monitor with headphone jack.

Re: Headphones on a t2i?
No it doesn't work on the T3i, yet at least. I wish it did as I'd rather shoot with my T3i than the T2i.

Re: Headphones on a t2i?
It's the only solution if you don't use Magic Lantern or you have the T3i.
