Monopods/Tripods

Stupid question but does using monopods/tripods actually improve the sharpness of a video image? Clearly it does when shooting photos but, other than the undesireable handshake, does such movement actually make a video clip more blurry or does the sensor operate quickly enough to make this a non-issue?

Yes, a support system can improve image quality. Think of video as a series of stills. Higher frame rates and image stabilizers can help minimize the blur effect of shaky camera-work. Definitely at 24fps, using a tripod makes quite a noticeable difference, at least for me.

Thanks Mark. That seemed to be logical but I just wanted to check!

Re: Monopods/Tripods

Sorry to hijack this thread (seemed like you've already received your answer Tim), but instead of starting a new thread, maybe thought we could here some fellow forum posters advice and experience with monopods.

I've heard good things about the following:

561 BHDV monopod with 701 video head (is that a video head?)

Are there others to recommend or any accessories that'll make life easier?

Re: Monopods/Tripods

Why ask these questions here, when the "be all and end all" of camera support information is right here?

These are not camera specific questions, so shouldn't be in a camera specific Forum.
