7D has phantom power for external mic?

I have not received my 7D as of today. I have a Sony EMC-673 mic which requires phantom power.

Thank you

Get the DXA-5D from Beachtek which not only has 48V phantom power for two inputs but also has an AGC suppression circuit to kill the dreaded AGC hum.

Worth every penny it costs if you care about professional level audio recording.

For about the same money you can get a Tascam or Zoom recorder which have phantom power and a lot more. That beach tech will take your lousy Canon sound and make it less lousy. But it will still be lousy. The Tascam and Zoom will give great results. And if you're a Vegas or FCP user, you can get inexpensive syncing software, which is of course the sole advantage, as I see it, of the Beachtek.

Re: 7D has phantom power for external mic?

I understand the DXA-5D does NOT have phantom power, heard from two sources and the page on amazon has that in bold.

However, the BeachTek DXA-SLR (also under $400) does have phantom power.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to pair the mkh-416 with the 7d. Looks like it may be this.

I have the Beachtek and it's OK. If I had to do it over I would not buy it again.
