Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG IF
Has anybody tried shooting video with this lens yet? Trying to find an economical alternative for the time being to the Canon 24-70 f2.8 L
I know its not gonna be anywhere near the L, but has anyone had any good luck with this lens? :)

Can't help you with that one but I have a 28-75 f2.8 Tamron, and also a 16-50 Tokina f2.8 for my wide angle. I like both lenses. They're not as big and solid as the equivalent L but both are sharp and I haven't had any problems. The only drawback is that the focus doesn't have as much throw as the L lenses. The Tokina is better than the Tamron, but both go from close to infinity in about a quarter turn. The Tokina is quite a bit bigger and heavier than the Tamron.

I had the Nikon version and loved it!! It was built like a tank, sharp and at that price, who could go wrong. I wish I could've just switched mounts from Nikon to Canon.

Its a good value lens, it wont dissapoint. Take your camera along to a dealer and try it out, see what you think for yourself.

just checking but have you tried out a 24-70ish ranged lens on the 7d already? Personally I find its more handy to have something that starts wider if you want to use it as an everyday midrange zoom, such as a 17-55.. but perhaps theres others who like to use this kind of range even with the crop factor??
