Also a willing participant in getting this firmware fixed for us. Nice little camera!

Now that Tramm has delivered by (with help) breaking down the barriers to a 550d magic lantern version, I would encourage anybody who pledged money to donate to the project using the following link:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...ton_id=5743101

If you add a special instruction stating that you are donating for the 550d project it will make your motives clear.

No, I am not Tramm in disguise :)

Thanks for the donation link!

Donated to support Tramm's work -
can't wait to be able to use manual audio control and to see audio levels and zebras. Sweet :)

Looks like folks have had a busy weekend.

From what I can gather, the alpha has been updated to allow disabling of AGC and also has gain control implemented.

Sweet!

I will be waiting a while. Looks like Tramm and a few other guys have really got their teeth into this now and things are progressing fast. I'm sure we won't have to wait long before there is a reasonably complete beta in circulation.

Thus far, AGC is being turned off by Magic Lantern it appears. I am not sure we are at the point we can turn down gain as we did with the 5D to lower the noise floor further. I also was able to get headphone monitoring up. To do so, you start the camera with a Card that has ML installed on it, wait for it to come up. (If you plug it in before startup, you won't get video to the LCD.) Then I took the USB/Video cord and adapted using a Y to miniplug adapter and plugged headphones to that. Sound was very loud, and distorted my head phone with loudest noises (loud voice with my mouth right up on an NTG-2 mic).

Progress

There is good news after the recent T2I firmware release. Magic Lantern developers were able to port ML over to work with 1.0.9 and they have not been locked out as they were for the 7D.

magiclantern for T2i/550D 1.0.9: very soon - Magic Lantern firmware development | Google Groups

They are able to control audio gain, but through a number entered into the fw upload on the memory card. No menu for controlling gain as of yet. Still I count this as solid progress. This latest version has been tested as quite stable.
