Red pixel while shooting video

I see a red pixel when shooting video, it's always there...even with the lens cap on!

Here's what it looks like:

I'm planning on returning the camera today to get a new one if it's broken but i was wondering if i was doing something wrong first and if anybody knows where that red dot is coming from?

This is known as a hot pixel. It's a sensor flaw. Send it back.

Try to do "manual sensor" clean first from the main menu.

Oh golly I'm glad you didn't send it back then. Silly me...I'll have to keep this in mind if this happens with my 7D!

No worries Ben. I really thought it was going back to the store.

I have real bad luck with stuck pixels. I returned 2 Pioneer Elite 60" because of stuck pixels!! I finally got a good one the 3rd time.

DH Reincarnattion

Just to let you know (in case you already don't know) there is great plug in for removal of death pixel from the footage you need to use.

Here is the link

Digital Heaven - The Hottest Tools for the Coolest Apps

Saved some very important clips that were spoiled (actually) by dust on my sensor. Worka with death pixels and dust specks up to 8 X 8 pixels size.
