7D and Follow Focus

I see some photos of the 7d with the follow focus used on the zoom ring. Is this what everybody is doing or is it usually used for focusing?

Thanks!

It's usually used for focus - I would assume those using it on the zoom portion of the lens are using Auto Focus.
