7D - Err 01

The AF seems to have stopped working and I get this:

"Err 01: Communications between the camera and lens is faulty. Clean the lens contacts."

I tried cleaning the contacts and it still won't auto focus with any of my lenses. Am I pwned?

Have you been using a lens adapter or anything non-standard with the camera? Could the camera mount have been damaged?

None. Before it happened I was taking video last week with my Sigma 30mm 1.4
Then today I put on my Canon 17-55 2.8 and the AF started to act up. Same with my Tokina 11-16 and Canon 50mm

Video still works fine though. Weird?

Well I dropped off the 7D for warranty repair last week and picked it up this morning. The service details were:

"Your product has been examined and it was found that the internal component had shorted causing error 01 to be displayed. The DC/DC PCB assembly, bottom PCB assembly was replaced and product functions were confirmed."

Before the AF stopped working I had used my Sigma 30mm 1.4 on the 7D for a video shoot.

I've read somewhere that third party lenses make the camera work harder, thus causing it to short. Anybody know if there's a truth behind that?

Brandon, I'd call Sigma and ask them if they have an updated chip for your lens...

I know in the past when they update chips they would install them for free.. not sure if
they still do that... so, I'd call them... they may also tell you that you have the latest
chip... ???
