Lot's of discussion about whether the 7D with its cropped sensor can produce shallow DOF. I thought I'd do a few shots to determine its capabilities. You be the judge:

The circles of confusion depend only on aperture and focal length, not on sensor size. Creating a similar image for a larger sensor requires a greater focal length. Creating a similar DOF on the D7 sensor for a similar image requires about half a stop wider aperture. Great diagram. If anyone is waiting on this camera for fear of inability to obtain shallow DOF, they needn't worry.
