Alternative to Zacuto Target Shooter?
I'm looking for a cheaper alternative similar to the Zacuto Target Shooter for my C100. Occasionally I have to go handheld & I'd like to have a third point of contact for stability. I can't justify paying Zacuto prices for something that is effectively two metal pipes. Any ideas?

Re: Alternative to Zacuto Target Shooter?
For the price of the Target Shooter, I would look at Zacuto's new Marauder [or Enforcer.] Seems much more useful for the same money as it is foldable.
Enforcer | Foldable DSLR Rig | Zacuto USA You could conceivably assemble all the parts from eBay for a fraction of the cost too. There are also knock off versions on eBay of the Target Shooter-- Search "Wondlan Sniper". |

Re: Alternative to Zacuto Target Shooter?
Thanks John the Wondlan Sniper might be exactly what I was looking for. I agree the Enforcer looks really good, I'd like to see a version designed for the C100 with the Gorilla baseplate, that would be perfect.
I do find it hard to justify the costs we sometimes have to pay for camera gear if I compare it to an AVR 5.5K Petrol Generator with electronic start for example priced at that of the Target Shooter it really makes me wonder how they come up with their pricing. I mean how is two little metal pipes priced as much as a combustion engine? The value vs cost doesn't add up. |

Re: Alternative to Zacuto Target Shooter?
I"m sure c300/500/scarlet and epic users will find 500+ dollar for a minimal rig a small expense and that their accessories are premium build quality but it is indeed somewhat ridiculous to charge over 500 dollar for basically 2 tubes, a tripodplate and a support to put against your shoulder. There are much cheaper alternatives on ebay and eventhough their build quality won't be at the same high level as Zacuto they will serve you equally well, especially if it's just a very simple construction like their target shooter.

The shoulder strap works pretty well as a third point of contact if you shorten it so that you push out against it.
It gives you more freedom of movement too.
