Meet Suny Behar



Suny Behar enrolled in UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television in 1997 where he earned an MFA in Film and Television Production. From there, his work in the field of visual storytelling has included a wide array of forms and formats over the years. From working in Camera Layout on PIXAR’s animated feature “CARS”, to music videos (People in Planes, Modest Mouse, etc…), to shooting numerous short films, feature films, television shows and commercials, Suny has been able to explore all sorts of capture mediums ranging from Super8 film, to all the current flavors of digital cinema.
Suny’s focus on technology and trends has led him to serve as a consultant to many Fortune 500 companies including Panasonic, HBO, Canon and GOOGLE. Suny is passionate about combining artistic endeavors with the science that is digital imaging. This passion is exercised yearly with the HBO Camera Assessment Series that Suny has been photographing for the last 3 years. When he is not shooting or consulting, Suny spends his time teaching through various outlets. As an instructor for HD Expo/ Createasphere he taught P2 Camps and Varicamps outlining the many functions of the P2 Varicam, and for Canon USA, he has taught a wide range of seminars on Canon’s new line of digital cinema offerings. While training professionals is important, Suny also makes the time to teach up and coming filmmakers at UCLA’s Graduate School of Theater, Film and Television.
Suny currently resides in Los Angeles, where he continues his work as a freelance director, cinematographer, consultant and educator, and can be found hosting a podcast for Tech Media Planet at Tech Media Planet.
