Configuring a Canon EOS C300 and an AJA Ki Pro Mini for 1080p 23.98 recording
Today a customer contacted AJA Technical Support because there was some confusion on which camera settings on the Canon EOS C300 needed to be set in order to extract 1080p 23.98 fps from the camera's 1080i 59.94Hz output when coupled with the AJA Ki Pro Mini. I thought it might be beneficial to supply some information here for the benefit of Canon/AJA users who might wish to do this.
Canon EOS C300 settings: SDI Output>HD NTSC/PAL>NTSC Bit Rate/Resolution>50 Mbps 1920x1080 Frame Rate>23.98P SDI Rec Command>On Timecode>TC In/Out>Out User Bit>Output Mode>Pulldown Important information regarding 1080p 23.98 fps extraction from 1080i 59.94Hz can be found on page 79 of the Canon EOS C300 user manual. The user manual can be found on the Canon website at: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/3/030000...0pl-im2-en.pdf AJA Ki Pro Mini settings: CONFIG>Camera Data>Canon C300 Information regarding the specific interactions between the AJA Ki Pro Mini and the Canon EOS C300, with respect to the extraction of 1080p 23.98 fps from 1080i 59.94Hz, can be found on page 48-49 of the AJA Ki Pro Mini manual. The user manual can be found on the AJA website at: http://www.aja.com/pdf/AJA_Ki_Pro_Mini_Guide_3.0.pdf With any AJA product, if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact AJA Technical Support via phone or email for assistance. Hope this information is helpful, Jon Thorn Senior Product Manager AJA Video Systems, Inc. |
