Sample clip: C300 Rolex 24 at Daytona
Here it is guys... literally picked up the camera at the FedEx depot in Daytona Beach, unboxed it and went shooting. Looking forward to learning the camera - just scratched the surface here... Edit: This is my first Vimeo upload - just checked the footage, and Vimeo has taken a hell of a whack out of the picture quality - I'd say down 35% from the H.264 I submitted. Probably old news for many of you. |

Awesome video. The camera is amazing. It really gave me the whole experience of being at this event.
2 "suggestions": More shots of women and some point of view shots from inside the race car going around the track. Probably can't do the second request ;) |

Looks good esp the fast pans. Didnt spot much jello. Jeff, how did u do the speed ups? Was it shot on 30p and sped up in post? Can the C300 do still shots for timelapse use?

Re: Sample clip: C300 Rolex 24 at Daytona
The speedups were done inside the camera menu: Interval recording. I set it to one shot per second.
The wide shot with the ferris wheel is less-than-great because the platform I was shooting from was moving ever so slightly - top row of the main straightaway grandstand. |

The night shots!!!
Could see no noise in blacks and tons of detail in shadows. Would really love to see originals of fast pans and night shots - bet you are super impressed. Yeah - all the web compression colors the true output from the camera - maybe NAB we will get to see first hand results. But for now, factoring in the web compression, it looks to be a real performer. |

Jeff,
Great shooting. This is my neck of the woods. Lived here since 1992. Love the speed weeks. Are you going to be here for the 500 at Daytona? It look like you were all over the place, the place is bigger than it looks. If you are going to be here at the end of march, there is a Balloon Fest in New Smyrna on the 23-25. Dan |

Re: Sample clip: C300 Rolex 24 at Daytona
The lens info is in the Vimeo description - mostly the EF-S 17-55mm, and the 70-200mm L 2.8 IS II, with the 1.4x extender added to it on the second day.
HD: Be sure to click the HD button at the bottom of the frame - somehow it was embedded to DVinfo in SD. |
