Wide Angle Pancake Lens for Pocket Cinema Camera
Hey Guys,
I'm wanting to use my Black Magic Pocket on my gimbal so looking for a wide pancake lens and wanted to see what options there was. I think I'd need something around the 10mm - 12mm range and in the £200 - £350 range. Any ideas? Thanks Matt |

Re: Wide Angle Pancake Lens for Pocket Cinema Camera
Take a look at Samyang. They have a wonderful 7.5mm f3.5 fisheye that is an amazing wide angle on the BMPCC. They also have a 10mm f2.8 and a 12mm f2.0.
I cannot really recommend the 10mm, but only because it is big and heavy. The 7.5mm is very small, with the 12mm being a tad larger. Optically, they all deliver however. And don't forget that the BMPCC has a crop factor somewhere close to 3x, so that 7.5mm comes in around 20-21mm equivalent. |

Re: Wide Angle Pancake Lens for Pocket Cinema Camera
It may depend on the payload limit of your gimbal.
Do you want MFT and NOT Fisheye? Rokinon 10mm f2.8 is not Fisheye but weighs 620 grams at $419. This might be the cheapest wide non fisheye but it may be heavy for some very small payload gimbals http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039937-REG/rokinon_10m_mft_10mm_f_2_8_ed_as.html Panasonic 7-14mm f4 is also not Fisheye and weighs only 300 grams but costs $898. This would probably be the lightest wide non fisheye. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039937-REG/rokinon_10m_mft_10mm_f_2_8_ed_as.html As mentioned above, don't forget the crop factor. 7mm is going to be much wider than 10mm. 7 is about 20mm full frame and 10 is about 29mm full frame angle of view on BMPCC. If you have a gimbal that can handle a heavy payload then there's Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 at $429. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/882235-REG/Tokina_atx116prodxc_ii_AT_X_116_PRO_DX_II.html Requires Speedbooster (Nikon or Canon). Token is 550 grams and SpeedBooster is 160g Nikon or 173g for Canon for a total of 720 grams or 723 grams. This will give you wide at about 18mm full frame. So widest would be Panasonic 7-14mm at 7 or Tokina at 11mm with SpeedBooster. First expensive, second heavy. I believe some have used a C lens adaptor with a modified Kowa lens. I believe it's the Kowa 6mm C mount for $599 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1022991-REG/kowa_lm6hc_c_mount_6mm_f_1_8_16_1.html Weighs only 215 grams so probably still light with C-Mount adaptor and probably equal to about 17mm or so Full frame. |

Re: Wide Angle Pancake Lens for Pocket Cinema Camera
Just for fun, this is everything B&H has for MFT in the 10mm to 12mm range in price order
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search...64&srtclk=sort Keep in mind that 10mm is probably about 28mm full frame and 12mm is close to 35mm full frame field of view. |
